Hongera, to all those who attended Zanzibar-Pemba Re-union.

Re-union, really made me feel that there is no
difference of color, race, or religion. We are all,
but one, ZANZIBARI AND PEMBIAN, even after so many years.

The credit of the success of Re-union goes to those, who attended and supported with true
spirit. Everyone was happy, jolly, meeting, greeting and enjoying, like a family.  All showed
true spirit of Zanzibaris. This is called Pluralism.

Many of us met  after 40-50 years, made new friends, whom we did not know then,
that they are from Zanzibbar. Some repeated and created new Zanzibari jokes. The atmosphere was really wonderful and memorable.

Many, who have personally asked me to congratulate the Organizing Committee, have appreciated the hard and dedicated work of
the members. No doubt, the members have
worked tirelessly and selflessly for many months for this Re-union. Bravo. It was worth it.
We even made new friends within the comittee members.  Allahamdullilaha!  It was a success.

Attending Re-unions in Calgary in 2004, 2005
in Zanzibar and Toronto 2009, one cannot  compare or duplicate one to another. Each one in their own way, were really different and memorable. Memories of all three are different
and will remain for ever.

Inshallah, the next one in Zanzibar in 2011?

No joke, I have been asked if Registration Form
for 2011 is ready?  He wants to be the first one
to register.

During our life span, we all have many memorable events. For me, Zanzibar reunion 0f 2009 will be one of my favorite and will be cherished forever.

Having expressed my feelings about this reunion, I will be doing injustice if I fail to recognize the hard work, planning and implementing this event by all the members of the organizing committee under the leadership of Sultan Rajan, Naaz Teja & Hassan Jaffer. My special thanks to Kishore Gajjar for keeping us abreast of the events and for arranging vegetarian food. In short “JOB WELL DONE”

As the saying goes, “There is always room for improvement” I would request the present committee to review the events and make further improvements so that we will enhance our future events.

Having taken part in this event, I feel proud and blessed that we all have kept our spirit in preserving our tradition of being most hospitable Zanzibaries. This spirit has in fact helped us to integrate and share various multicultural people in settling down in Canada.

My hats of to various performers especially a lady  who came all the way from British Columbia. She rendered a beautiful Gujarati song   ‘MARA BAPANE CHAY MOTOR GADI”. Also Rashmi Shah gave a beautiful dance performance based on Hindi Song. All I would like to recognize beautiful songs sung by other performers whose name I have forgotten.

I was also lucky to meet my classmate Dolly Hederally.  To all my friends whom I met, I request you to keep in touch by e mail.

In conclusion, I would again like to express mine as well as my wife Bharti Joshi sincere thanks to the Organization Committee.

I am now looking forward to 2012 ZanzibarReunion in Zanzibar.

Shikamoo,
Congratulations to the Organizers of this GREAT Zanzibar MOMENTS.
These are moments that so many will remember as more years go by!
Even the rains could not dampen the spirits of the Zanzibaries at the LakeView Park Picnic. Whew!
The true cordiality of Zanzibar reflected in the many sounds, languages, food and dresses of the first real multiculture people of East Africa-meeting in another great multiculutre City of Toronto-Canada 2009.
Thank you EVERYONE for sharing the Zanzibar stories and posing for photographs.
Thank you the organizers-who gave their time-efforts and other resources.
May your future endures be as successful.

Today, August 2, 2009, at Lakeview Park, Oshawa, was a great, great day for Zanzibaris.

I understand that before this wonderful function of today, many other have been held somewhere else in this world, but this one was of its kind because it include all types of Zanzibaris, the real Zanzibaris, meaning multi-cultural Zanzibaris.

The only thing is missing now, is the organ which will permanently keep Zanzibaris together here in Canada and North America for one hand, and the whole world on the other hand.

My suggestion is that, we Zanzibaris, especially those who live in GTA, should sit together and bring up our community organ which has been established 2000 in Toronto. This is Zanzibari-Canadian Association or ZANCANA.

Hoping that this message will be welcomed by everyone who tasted the Reunion of August, 2009. Let unite and make our power of Zanzibaris being powerful in the world.

Thanks

Secretary General of Zanzibari-Canadian Association-ZANCANA.
